Dr. Alberto García-Peñas is assistant professor in the department of Materials Science and Engineering at University Carlos III of Madrid. Furthermore, he is Coordinator of the master's degree in Circular Engineering, Secretary for Academic Affairs of "Álvaro Alonso Barba" Institute of Chemistry and Materials Technology, Founder of the Cirmat Symposium, Computer Council Member, and Laboratory Safety Officer at University Carlos III of Madrid. The outcome of his research work includes more than 50 SCI-publications in reputed journals such as Chemical Engineering Journal, Carbohydrate Polymers or Chemosphere. He contributed to 4 book chapters and edited 1 book. Dr. García-Peñas has received 10 awards and distinctions, four of them derived from his PhD Thesis, devoted to correlation between microstructural features and final properties of polypropylenic architectures: the world “Borealis Student Innovation Award”; the recognition of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) for his doctoral thesis; and, the awards from the specialized groups of Polymers and Calorimetry and Thermal Analysis (GEP and GECAT, respectively) of the Real Sociedad Española de Química and the Real Sociedad Española de Física.
